Durante il giorno le persone si spostano, comprano, vendono mentre i turisti passeggiano o si godono la bellissima costa e l'azzurro dell'oceano. Santa Maria è una cittadina turistica, piena di locali che offrono cibo o servizi di svago. Nei pomeriggi assolati la quiete cala accompagnata dal vento che rinfresca e solleva dall'umidità si percepiscono i rumori tipici dei luoghi di mare, la calma della giornata che volge al termine.
All'imbrunire, poco dopo il tramonto, le strade si trasformano e diventano un'enorme vetrina multicolore. Non sono rari i locali che nel proprio spazio offrono ai commensali e ai turisti di passaggio piccoli concerti live di artisti locali. Camminando per le vie centrali ci si ipnotizza dai suoni del dijembe (tipico tamburo africano a cassa lunga) o delle strofe più calorose della musica capoverdiana. Influenze di jazz e blues si mescolano tra i locali della strda pedonale, la più percorsa dai turisti in arrivo anche dagli hotel.
Il week end (venerdì, sabato e domenica) è il momento migliore per curiosare tra le rue scoprendo nuovi mondi e nuovi ritmi. In occasione del fine settimana molti locali conosciuti propongono serate intere, a volrte von un filo conduttore (kizomba, reggae, dancehall, dj mix) che possono comprendere anche gustosi coktails o cibo preparato al momento.
Non sono rare piccole esibizioni in piazza, eventi improvvisati, sponsorizzati da qualche scuola di ballo o, a scopo promozionale per qualche ristorante.
Gli artisti sono tutti impegnati, indipendentemente dalla bravura tecnica che talvolta lascia spazio all'improvvisazione, professionali e attenti alle reazioni del pubblico. Spesso si può ascoltare musica al Flor d'Sal, Coconut, Reggae Bar, Cafè Criolo, Piscador, Bia, Calema, Buddy, Chillout pub, Bom Petish, Lobstar (solo all'interno del locale).

Live music in Santa Maria, Ilha do Sal
During the day people move, buy, sell while tourists stroll or enjoy the beautiful coast and the blue of the ocean. Santa Maria is a tourist town, full of bars offering food or leisure services. In the sunny afternoons, the quiet calm accompanied by the wind that refreshes and lifts from the humidity, you can hear the typical sounds of the seaside places, the calm of the day coming to an end.
At dusk, shortly after sunset, the streets transform into a huge multicolored showcase. It is not rare that the premises offer to diners and tourists passing small live concerts of local artists.
Walking through the central streets you will be mesmerized by the sounds of the dijembe (typical African drum with a long case) or the warmest verses of Cape Verdean music. Influences of jazz and blues are mixed among the places of the pedestrian street, the most visited by tourists arriving even from hotels.
The weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) is the best time to browse through the streets discovering new worlds and new rhythms. On the weekend many well-known places offer whole evenings, to volrte von a common thread (kizomba, reggae, dancehall, dj mix) which may also include tasty coktails or freshly prepared food.
There are not rare small performances in the square, improvised events sponsored by some dance school or for promotional purposes for some restaurant.
The artists are all engaged, regardless of the technical skill that sometimes leaves room for improvisation, professional and attentive to the reactions of the audience. Often you can listen to music at the Flor d'Sal, Coconut, Reggae Bar, Café Criolo, Bia, Calema, Buddy, Chillout pub, Bom Petish, Lobstar (only inside the club).
